Vivo Virtual Developer Lab

The leading provider of testing and certification for mobile applications in Latin America and Vivo, the largest mobile phone service provider in Latin America with over 50 million customers, DeviceAnywhere(TM) today announces the launch of the Vivo Virtual Developer Lab (VDL), providing remote access to over thirty physical mobile devices from anywhere in the world.

Available to all members of the Vivo developer community, the Vivo VDL will ensure that the recently announced Vivo downloads store is populated with content that meets the highest standards of usability and reliability.

Built on DeviceAnywhere’s award-winning Direct-to-Device(TM) technology, developers will be able to remotely interact with local handsets as if they were in their hands, including the iPhone 3G, Blackberry 9000 and Nokia N95. Developers are able to press buttons, rotate the handset, listen to ringtones and sounds, play videos, access the internet and view LCD displays with pixel-by-pixel representations for accurate image and text matching that display exactly what the consumer would view.

“Vivo continues to differentiate itself from its competitors due to our continued search for excellence in the services we offer and the strong relationships this has created with our customers. The content and applications we offer to our customers through the Vivo downloads store is no exception to this and we are therefore committed to providing best in class testing and certification tools through our partnership with DeviceAnywhere to our developer community to maintain those standards,” said Alexandre Madeira Fernandes, Product and Services Director for Vivo. “We are extremely excited about the launch of the Vivo Virtual Developer Lab and the content and services it will cultivate amongst our global developer community.”

“With the growing number of smartphone users and improved access to 3G networks in Latin America, DeviceAnywhere is expanding its footprint to support this exiting new market with the launch of the Vivo Virtual Developer Lab,” said Faraz Syed, CEO of DeviceAnywhere. “We are pleased to offer Vivo subscribers access to the widest range of mobile devices possible as part of our commitment to enable the development of quality mobile content across the globe.”

Latin America represents one of the fastest growing markets for mobile, with Pyramid Research predicting smartphone sales to grow from 7 million smartphones sold in 2009, to 48 million in 2014 representing 30 percent of total sales.
