Vimeo is an online video sharing website on which users can upload, share, and view videos. Vimeo was the first online video sharing website to support HD upload and playback. Headquartered in New York City, Vimeo is a premium platform for sharing and watching videos online.
The name Vimeo is a play on the word video, inserting the word "me" as a reference to the site's dedication to user-made video, and is also an anagram of "movie."
It was founded by Jake Lodwick and Zach Klein in November 2004, whom each left the company in 2007 and 2008 respectively. IAC purchased Vimeo in August 2006 as part of its acquisition of Connected Ventures. Dae Mellencamp was the Chief Executive Officer of Vimeo since she joined in January 2009, Dae Mellencamp joined IAC as General Manager of Vimeo till 2012 when Shimon Haber joined Vimeo as the CEO
