Pervasive PSQL is designed for embedded database installations where the database is distributed as part of an application software package. Pervasive PSQL’s target clients are Independent Software Vendors (ISV’s) building and maintaining applications for small to mid-sized enterprises. It provides both relational and transactional access to data and is available on both Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms. Pervasive PSQL supports SQL and offers developers the ability to connect through industry standard APIs such as ADO, ADO.NET, JDBC, ODBC and OLE DB. The product is a superset of the original Btrieve data management product, supports the entire Btrieve API and is backwards compatible with previous versions of PPSQL and Btrieve. Pervasive PSQL simplifies development and deployment, and minimizes the adoption challenges of new technologies including Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, 64-bit computing and multi-core processing. It provides simultaneous access to data through both transactional and relational APIs. This means that developers can use both Btrieve API and SQL from the same application.
