Lukup allows users to view, share and communicate across multiple social networks, instant messaging networks, popular web services, mobile phones and desktop applications. Lukup is available as an application that can be installed inside social networks or run on mobile phones, run as a browser extension, and installs as a plugin on desktop applications.
Companies and service providers can leverage Lukup to launch applications that can run across social networks, instant messengers and mobile phones that Lukup supports. Lukup provides a common set of APIs that third party applications can use to get contact information, deliver messages and create feeds from all Lukup supported networks and services. These number over 30 networks and services at present. Third party applications can also run on independent websites.
The benefits to users will be greater data portability across multiple services they use and greater availability of their data and content on multiple clients. Companies can benefit by using Lukup as a ‘write once, run everywhere’ applications platform they can use to launch applications that can leverage a combined social graph and virally communicate across networks.
Lukup is launching in July 2008.
