LinkUp is a job search engine that works by spidering company websites and indexing only jobs listed on established company websites. The goal is this is to create a search engine for jobseekers that only lists jobs that are currently open with legitimate companies. By gathering their jobs in this manner, LinkUp aims to guarentee jobseekers a place to search for jobs that is free to recruiters, talent agencies, and fraudulent listings.
The revenue model behind the site is a pay-per-click system where employers bid to be in the allocated “Premium Job” portion of the search results, much like Google’s AdWords program.
As of January 2009, LinkUp spiders over 14,000 companies - ranging in size from 5-person operation to Fortune 500s. They presently only spider companies within the USA, but their user-feedback section shows they plan to expand into Canada and the UK within the near future.
