LinkUp is a job search engine that works by spidering company websites and indexing only jobs listed on established company websites. The goal is this is to create a search engine for jobseekers that only lists jobs that are currently open with legitimate companies. By gathering their jobs in this manner, LinkUp aims to guarantee jobseekers a place to search for jobs that is free to recruiters, talent agencies, and fraudulent listings.
The revenue model behind the site is a pay-per-click system where employers bid to be in the allocated “Premium Job” portion of the search results, much like Google’s AdWords program. They also offer a Facebook application that allows employers to automatically post jobs to a Facebook Page as well a Twitter solution that will automatically Tweet jobs.
As of May 2010, LinkUp spiders over 20,000 companies - ranging in size from 5-person operation to Fortune 500s. They currently cover US, Canada and the UK.
