IMO has created many unique features for its instant messaging users:
First, if you sign into more than one account you can link your accounts. When you link your accounts, logging into any one of your linked accounts will automatically sign you into the other accounts.
The second feature it released is group chat. This is a little different than traditional group chat. IMO group chat works across the different networks which means that in a single group chat you can have buddies from AIM, Google Talk, MSN, and Yahoo Messenger all talking to each other. Also, your buddies don’t even have to be logged into IMO to group chat. If you invite a buddy who is not on IMO they will be sent a URL which leads them to an IMO page where they can participate in the group chat. Your friend is also free to then sign into IMO if he/she wants to invite more people to the chat.
The third service offered is video chat, which allow you to communicate with your friends through video and audio. There are absolutely no downloads necessary, as this is all web-based.
The fourth feature IMO offers is surf mode, which lets you IM and surf the web at the same time. When you enter surf mode, a new window containing imo.im will pop-up to the side. This surf window will be a tabbed version of the imo.im user interface. Your original window will be resized and your home page will be loaded into it. Your new imo.im surf window will sit side by side with your original browser window. You will then be able to IM while you check your email, watch YouTube videos or read the news.
The fifth new feature released is a Facebook application which allows you to IM and video chat with friends on Facebook.
