The eSports Award is the most prestigious award in electronic sports and has been issued by Turtle Entertainment GmbH at the Games Convention trade fair in Leipzig, Germany since 2004.
The eSports Award will be issued in the following categories:
* Lifetime Achievement Award: In 2007 the Lifetime achievement Award will be presented for the first time. It recognizes breakthrough achievements in the field of eSports.
* eSports Player of the Year: Best eSportsman in the diciplines Counter-Strike, Warcraft 3 or Quake IV.
* Newcomer / Breakthrough of the Year: Best Breakthrough eSportsman of the year, whether as total newcomer, comeback or entrance to a new discipline.
* Best Counter-Strike Player: Best Counter-Strike player of the past year.
* Best Warcraft III Player: Best Warcraft III player of the past year.
* eSports Team of the Year: Award for the best eSports team of the year with outstanding organisation, constancy and professionalism.
* Best eSports Coverage Online-Magazine: Best Coverage portal for the international eSports Scene. The Award will be given by the Community.
* eSports Journalist Award: Award for the most sophisticated and thorough article or feature about eSports.
* Scene journalist award: The award recognizes constant in-depth coverage in the field of eSports.
* eSports Game of the Year: The most popular eSports game will be recognized. The Award will be given by the Community.
Since 2008 the eSports Award also is awarded online. Categories of the online eSports Award are:
* Best Call of Duty 4 Player: Award for the best Call of Duty Player of the Year
* Consoles Player of the Year: eSports gains acceptance on consoles. Award for the best console gamer
* Consoles Team of the Year: Award for the best consoles team
* Best Halo 3 Player: Award for the best Halo 3 Player of the Year
* eSports Photo of the Year: Award for the best picture on eSports in the press.
