Cuts is an online video editing service launched in mid-2006. Cuts raised an undisclosed round of seed funding led by First Round Capital in mid-2006. Their competitors include JumpCut, Photobucket and Eyespot.
Rifftrax acquired them for an undisclosed sum in June 2007. Key members of the Cuts team have since relocated to the Rifftrax headquarters in San Diego, CA.
Once you’ve imported a video from YouTube, MySpace, etc, you’re taken to the Cuts editing suite. The editing suite is easy to navigate and allows you to make simple changes to sound, caption and navigation levels for the video. When you’re done editing a video you can easily re-edit your “take” in the future since all editing has no affect on the underlying video.
Rifftrax’s acquisition of Cuts will allow its users to edit and add riffs to its exclusive collection of Michael Nelson (of MST3K fame) video riffs.
