Active Worlds offers over 1000 worlds to build and explore in (a few of which have been made to promote movies). In the worlds, users can build almost anything they want, explore what others have built, go shopping and play games. Communicating is done by sending private telegrams, whispering to each other and virtually walking within 200 meters of other users.
Active Worlds citizenship can be had for $6.95/month and gives you unlimited access to hundreds of virtual worlds, a protected citizen name, secured property privileges, instant messaging, an expanded avatar gallery and more.
