Wolfgang Seibold joined Earlybird in 2001 and was promoted to Partner in 2006. In May 2011 he was appointed Board Member at German Venture Capital Association BVK. Wolfgang is heading Earlybird’s investment activities in the areas of green technologies and services. Wolfgang represents Earlybird on the board of several portfolio companies. Currently, he is a board member of Light Blue Optics Ltd. (Cambridge, UK) and ubitricity Gesellschaft für verteilte Energiesysteme mbH (Berlin). Before that, Wolfgang had been a board member of OOVM A/S in Denmark and board observer at Asyntis GmbH (Munich) and Esmertec AG (Swiss Exchange: ESMN). Wolfgang has been involved in several national and international start-up initiatives, such as Munich Network e.V, where he serves as a board member or CTI Invest where he used to be a board member. Prior to Earlybird, Wolfgang worked as a management consultant for The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Frankfurt and Stuttgart, where he focused on strategic management of IT and high-tech for various industries and for several years, he was a member of BCG’s Worldwide IT-Practice Group. Before that, he worked at Alcatel/SEL in communications engineering. Wolfgang studied physics and mathematics at the Universities of Ulm and Newcastle upon Tyne, from where he graduated with a Dipl. Phys. (MSc equivalent) in semiconductor physics. He also has an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
