William is currently Chief Evangelist, Advocate Marketing at Influitive. He was CEO/founder of Engagio who merged with Influitive.
William has more than 30 years of strategic, operational, and leadership experience in the technology industry, as an entrepreneur, business executive, professional speaker, consultant and author. In August 2008, he started EQENTIA, a software service that enables the rapid creation of highly tailored vertical knowledge portals, based on semantic principles.
Previously, he was Vice President, Global Corporate Marketing for Cognizant Technology Solutions, one of the largest outsourcing services players. In this role, William founded and managed an entire corporate marketing team focused on the mix of global integrated marketing communications activities, including analyst and media relations, branding, messaging and positioning, web site communications, corporate collaterals, executive events, thought leadership marketing and other corporate marketing initiatives. During his 2½ year tenure, the company grew revenues at a 50-60% rate.
From 1995 to 2005, as a management consultant, author and thought leader, William consulted and lectured to the world’s largest corporations and their CIO’s. His clients included Agilent Technologies, CIBC, Computer Associates, Eaton Corporation, First Union Bank (Wachovia), Heidrick & Struggles, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Merrill Lynch, Microsoft, Motorola, Nortel, Oracle, SAP, Sun, and TD-Bank.
He is also the best-selling author of Opening Digital Markets (McGraw-Hill, 1997), co-author of The Business Internet & Intranets (Harvard Business School Press, 1997) and was a columnist for Computerworld, LANTimes, iSource and a founding member of the Business 2.0 team.
Previously, he spent 14 years at Hewlett-Packard and held a variety of management positions in sales, marketing, and consulting for enterprise IT systems in the healthcare, financial services, oil & gas, and telecommunications industries. He also led the client-server, open systems and executive/CIO programs at HP Canada.
William holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Washington and has completed the University of Western Ontario’s Executive Marketing Management Program. He also attended the University of British Columbia’s Graduate Commerce School.
