Wenceslao Casares is a founder, co-Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Bling Nation. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the long-term direction and growth of Bling Nation.
In addition to his role at Bling Nation, Casares is a founding partner of MECK, Ltd., a private investment firm based in Santiago, Chile. As a global entrepreneur specializing in the technology and financial markets, Casares was instrumental in several business developments before founding Bling Nation.
In 1994, he launched and later sold Argentinaâ€™s first Internet Service Provider, Internet Argentina S.A. He later founded Patagon, an online brokerage and Latin Americaâ€™s first comprehensive Internet financial services portal.
Casares served as the Chairman and CEO of Patagon, overseeing the expansion of its online banking services to the United States, Spain and Germany and its sale to Banco Santander (NYSE: STD).
In 2002, Casares and his partners at MECK founded Banco Lemon, a Brazilian retail bank serving the underbanked population, which they have helped grow into the largest microfinance institution in Brazil.
Casares also founded New York City-based video game developer Wanako Games, which was later acquired by Vivendi Universal (Euronext: VIV). Casares is a member of the Young Presidentsâ€™ Organization and an elected member of the World Economic Forumâ€™s â€œGlobal Leaders of Tomorrowâ€ Class of 2001.
He was also selected as an Endeavor Entrepreneur by Endeavor, an organization that identifies and supports emerging entrepreneurs, and serves as a board member for the organization.
Casares also serves on the board of Viva Trust, an organization that supports sustainable development in Latin America, and also founded FundaciÃ³n SÃntesis, a non-profit foundation based in Chile. Casares studied business administration at the Universidad de San AndrÃ©s in Buenos Aires, Argentina and completed the Owner/President Management program at Harvard University.
