Vijay Tella has more than 20 years of experience in delivering fundamental innovations and market leading products in mass scale, real-time messaging and communications. Qik is Mr. Tella’s third start-up. Mr Tella was the first investor in Qik and, as an advisor, helped guide the strategic choices and direction of the company since it early days and came on board full time in April, 2008. He was an early member of the team and VP of the Core Technology group at Teknekron Software systems where Mr. Tella helped create the world’s first messaging based middleware product based on the Publish/Subscribe paradigm. This technology continues to power many of the world’s largest stock exchanges and trading systems. Following the acquisition of Teknekron Software Systems by Reuters Plc., Mr. Tella was a part of the founding team at TIBCO Software where as SVP of Engineering he helped the company become one of the world’s leading providers of real-time middleware communications products powering financial services, manufacturing, telecom, transportation and logistics services across the globe. During his tenure at TIBCO, the Company grew to more than $400M in annual sales and went public via an initial public offering.
Most recently, Mr. Tella was the Chief Strategy Officer for Oracle Fusion Middleware where he helped grow the Middleware division from $220M to $2.5B in revenue in five years. Most industry analysts view Fusion Middleware as the most advanced, integrated and complete middleware platform in the market. Today, this platform underpins the integration of all of Oracle’s acquired Enterprise Applications and of the next generation of Oracle’s applications: the Fusion Applications. Mr. Tella has an MS in computer science from UCLA, where he received the Outstanding MS Graduate award from the School of Engineering and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India.
