Vance Gorke

Vance Gorke’s career encompasses more than 20 years of sales and business development experience with digital and analog media organizations. He began his career in the advertising department of a regional daily newspaper in 1988 and gained big picture perspective on the media business through roles in editorial, marketing and internet publishing. He was part of a pioneering team that brought Massachusetts’ first daily newspaper online in 1995.

Vance’s reputation for leading successful initiatives, along with his expertise in electronic publishing and his strategic vision for integrating sales and marketing initiatives, led to his being tapped by executive management to launch new projects. He was recognized in 1996 with both an Epy Award for “Best On-line Newspaper” and a Community Action Corps Award of Distinction, followed by Associated Press honors in 1997 and 1998 with New England Cyber Awards.

He played a central role in identifying new products and publications, which were instrumental in preparing him for subsequent business development ventures. Since 1998, he has positioned two web-based companies Switchbaord.com, PlanetDiscover.com for IPO and corporate buyout. Recently at HighSchoolSports.net, a Gannett acquisition. He was effective in leveraging corporate assets for national exposure, and has excellent skills in affiliate development, product development, and business analysis.

In 1997, Vance founded VanceGorke.com, an entrepreneurial technology consulting business, in response to customer requests and market need. Primarily focused on marketing and inventory management, customers included advertising agencies and a mid-sized multinational company.

A native of New York, Vance earned a B.A. from the University at Buffalo. Over the past 2 years he has rediscovered his creative expression through Playdoh and Crayola – at his son and daughter’s direction. Vance enjoys cycling and skiing with his family.
