Turi Munthe is the CEO and Founder of Demotix, the multi-award winning citizen newswire, with over 35,000 reporters in 190+ countries around the world.
The Telegraph describes Demotix as “Journalism for the 21st Century”. Demotix sells breaking and archive news images/video daily all over the world, broke the 1-million image mark in October 2012, and was acquired by Bill Gates’ Corbis Images in November 2012.
Turi has been a publisher (with the leading English-language Middle East Studies publisher, IBTauris), editor (he founded the Beirut Review, distributed across the region with the Daily Star and IHT), policy analyst (at RUSI – the world’s oldest defence think-tank), lecturer, journalist and talking head. He has written for many of the world’s leading English-language newspapers, appeared on CNN, BBC, NBC, al-Jazeera, Asahi, Reuters, and elsewhere, and has lectured on new media all over the world.
