Thad McIlroy

Thad McIlroy is an electronic publishing analyst and author, and president of The Future of Publishing, based in San Francisco, CA. A well-established expert in the technology and marketing issues surrounding electronic publishing and the Internet, he has authored a dozen books and over 200 articles on these subjects. McIlroy served for five years as Program Director for Seybold Seminars (division of Softbank, formerly of Ziff-Davis), the publishing industry’s premier technology conference.

In 2006 he launched www.thefutureofpublishing.com, a Web site nearly a decade in the making, and the most comprehensive source of information on the the present and predicted outcomes of all sectors of the publishing industry.

Also in early 2007 he affiliated with The Gilbane Group (now a division of Outsell, Inc.) as an Senior Analyst in the Publishing Strategy & Technology Consulting Service.

In 1988 he founded Arcadia House, a consulting firm specializing in implementing electronic publishing technology in the graphic arts and publishing industries. In 1990 he co-founded (with Miles Southworth) The Color Resource, a publishing and distribution company devoted to books and training materials on color design, imaging and prepress.
