TEDDY ZEE is a long time entertainment executive and producer in Hollywood. Perhaps the most visible and vocal champion of Asians in Hollywood, Zee has over twenty-five years of experience in championing worldwide box office sensations in excess of US$2.5b as a studio executive for Columbia Pictures and Paramount Pictures, as President of Sony-based Overbrook Films and Foxbased Davis Entertainment, and as an independent producer and consultant focused on helping companies bridge Hollywood with China and Asia.
Most recently, Teddy Zee Productions helped broker and manage the successful marketing, promotion and licensing collaboration between Chinese fashion retailer Semir and Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 2â€. Beijing-based Xing Xing Digital Corporation secured Teddy Zee Productions as a consultant in Hollywood to aid in business and project development.
Taipei based Digimax engaged Zee as a consultant/executive producer on “Quantum Questâ€, a computer animated, 3D, large format film that was made in cooperation with NASA and Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL). Zee was the Executive Producer of “Pursuit of Happynessâ€, a Columbia Pictures film for which Will Smith was Oscar nominated. The film has earned $300 million in worldwide ticket sales. Zee produced “West 32nd†for Korea’s CJ Entertainment. The movie was one of 18 selected for World Narrative Competition at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.
In 2005, Zee produced “Hitchâ€, a Columbia Pictures release starring Will Smith, Eva Mendes and Kevin James that earned over $365 million in worldwide ticket sales. He also produced “Saving Face†starring Joan Chen, official selections for the Sundance and Toronto Film Festivals. It won the 2005 Golden Horse Audience Award, Taiwan’s Oscar equivalent. Previously, as President of Davis Entertainment, Zee was the Executive Producer of “Life or Something Like Itâ€, a New Regency release starring Angelina Jolie.
Zee is the Executive Producer of the annual Asian Excellence Awards broadcast on E! and AZN-TV to 100 million homes in the US.
