Tao oversees all of engineering for SportLeap. He has 8 years of experience building web applications and infrastructure for social networks, ecommerce, advertising and mobile platforms including integrating with external systems via API such as Paypal, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, FourSquare, MySpace, Google AdWords and Amazon Web Services. Tao was also an actuarial consultant for Oliver Wyman where he advised clients on insurance strategy, modeled financial liabilities and independently programed custom actuarial software that was subsequently adopted by 9 offices nationwide for its impact on efficiency and project profits.
Prior to that, Tao was a biomechanics researcher who consulted robotics and animation companies on locomotion, published 3 scientific papers and designed electromechanical systems to measure locomotion forces and track the position of joints and limbs of insects, lizards and crabs in 3D. Tao graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA degree in Physics.
