Stewart Butterfield

Stewart Butterfield is the co-founder of popular photo-sharing website Flickr and its parent company Ludicorp with his wife Caterina Fake. In April 2009, he was reported to be leaving his position at Flickr to start a new stealth social gaming company with Cal Henderson.

In March 2005, Fake and Butterfield sold Flickr to Yahoo barely a year after launching it, reportedly for more than $30 million. Butterfield remains with the company, and serves as Director of Product Management.

He has also founded the 5k competition, served on the W3C’s XForms working group, been nominated for a Chrysler Design Award, and is a frequent speaker on design and technology topics at professional and academic events across Europe and North America.

On June 13th, 2008 Stewart sent in his resignation letter which can be found here.
