Steve is a Principal Engineer (Director) in Google’s NYC office, focusing on core storage infrastructure. As the Technical Lead and Manager for Bigtable, he’s become an expert in building massively scalable, distributed systems. In addition, he manages the Colossus team, responsible for Google’s distributed file system infrastructure. Previously, he worked on the team that brought instant indexing (super-fresh results) to the search engine, and was one of Google’s first mobile search engineers.
