Steve McCartney joins VisualDNA as their Chief Technology Officer on January 17th 2011 and brings to bear over a decade of experience in developing and operating highly scalable and performant online technologies that have been refined at two of the largest European and US ad networks (Adviva Media and Specific Media respectively).
As one of the initial members of Adviva Media’s team (now Specific Media UK) from October 2000, Steve architected, developed and managed the ad serving platform that powered Adviva to become one of the largest and most respected ad networks in the UK along with substantial presence in France and Germany.
Thanks a combination to the technology platform and its ongoing European business, Adviva became a target for acquisition by the largest independent US network, Specific Media in March 2008. Steve proceeded to take the role of Senior Vice President of Engineering with responsibility for the companies global technology operations in both London, UK and Irvine, CA.
Behind the ad serving platforms at Specific Media, Steve architected a set of wide reaching user profiling and data warehousing technologies that enabled the anonymous targeting of ads to over 70% of US and European consumers and successfully drove the client performance for many of the largest advertisers in both regions.
Steve has a Master of Engineering (MEng) from St. Catherine’s College, Oxford University.
