Steve Kennedy
Steve is an industry veteran having acquired a degree in digital electronics and how to program digital systems then went into programming.
He worked in Medical Electronics working on several projects including a heart simulator that is still in use in hospitals today.
He then joined Cellnet (now O2) originally within the Frequency Planning department as a software engineer, but rapidly moving into system’s and network admin, rolling-out Cellnet’s wide area tcp/ip network in the early 90’s. When Cellnet decided that the Internet wasn’t important he left.
Steve then joined Demon Internet in 1994 and moved into a business development role, introducing NetApp, Real Networks and other technologies to the UK. He saw Demon transition from an entrepreneurial start-up through a traditional telco when it was acquired by Scottish Telecom to float as THUS Plc in the dot com boom. Eventually becoming Head of Product Futures a role that owned the product roadmap for THUS’ complete portfolio of voice, data and Internet products.
After leaving THUS, Steve did some consulting roles, journalism and more recently took on the role of Chief Strategy Officer at Textic Ltd looking after business development and product strategy.
Steve is also an early stage (Angel) investor and has made investments in the US and UK.
