Stephen Marcus is a Co-Founder & General Partner at Riot VC. Steve is a successful entrepreneur and investor with over 15 years of experience founding and managing technology companies.
Prior to joining New Atlantic Ventures in 2008, Steve founded five companies in the wireless, internet, and information technology sectors.
He has also been
an active angel investor and advisor in nearly a dozen ventures including Okta and Trefis.
Steve serves on the Boards of NAV portfolio companies Moda Operandi,
Invincea, and
Wiggio.
In his entrepreneurial career Steve was the founder & CEO of Marcus Spectrum Holdings (acquired by National Grid and twice by Nextel), a wireless spectrum investment fund, VoiceLink, a mission-critical wireless voice and data carrier, The Marcus Group (acquired by Global Tower Partners), a wireless tower development and site acquisition company, Marcus Holdings, a venture investment and advisory firm, and FutureNet, an IT consulting company.
Marcus has participated in several FCC auctions and remains an active owner-operator of wireless spectrum throughout the continental U.S. He has been an FCC licensed radio amateur since age 12.
Steve is a member of the MIT Sloan Admissions Committee and an active member of the MIT Alumni community.
He is a mentor in the inaugural class of the First Growth Venture Network (FGVN) as well as a judge for the MIT $100K Elevator Pitch Competition and the MIT Venture Capital Competition.
Steve is also a registered Apple iPhone developer and the author of a custom iPad application for the MIT Sloan Admissions Department called AdMITPad.
