Stephen Gay

Stephen Gay is an award-winning designer with a passion for information architecture and interaction design. He began his career with a degree in industrial design from Carleton University in Canada. In his studies, Stephen focused on user-centered design and developing product interfaces for Nortel.

During the early nineties, Stephen was Senior Information Architect for Chicago’s premier creative firms, Sapient and Hanna-Hodge. During his four years with these companies, Stephen contributed to the success of several Fortune 500 and international companies, including Lucent, Unisys, Manulife, Pecom, Reynolds, and AGEdwards-working in Chicago, New York, Toronto, and Argentina.

Working for Motorola Stephen was the product lead for several mobile products, developed design patents, and contributed to the design of the next generation mobile software platform. At Motorola, he also was the design application lead for the file management and media applications through collaborations with Motorola Labs and Human Factors. In additiona projects included next generation ideation, an avatar solution, youth products and touch screen devices in Chicago and China.

Stephen has independently consulted for clients such as Prudential, Bell South, Anthem, and Blue Cross, providing a variety of services that include usability testing, information architecture, requirements workshops, style guides, information graphics, and icon designs.

In addition his diverse expertise and energy have benefited several start-ups including Bubbleshare (Sold to Kaboose), Fivelimes (Sold), DogoNews and MXPlay. Stephen has a passion for non-profits currently launching Social Symmetry and volunteers for the Make-A-Wish foundation of Illionois.

Currently Stephen is working on developing a suite of products for Infogix. Many of the world’s leading enterprises, such as American Express, Barclays, Citibank, Wal-Mart, and AT&T depend on Infogix to assure the integrity of their information. They use Infogix solutions to be certain that critical information used for such things as financial reporting, customer statements, and monthly bills are accurate, consistent, and reliable.
