Stefan Tirtey

Stefan is a partner at Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures. He has been investing in European start-ups since 2001, focussing on disruptive innovation and great founder teams in the areas of mobile and internet.

Stefan led Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures’ investment in Soundcloud, where he’s still a member of the board. In addition to SoundCloud, Stefan serves or served on the boards of MegaZebra (Social Gaming), Ubidyne (4G antennas), Adaptive Mobile Security (mobile security), Azure (revenue assurance, acquired by Azure), Plazes (location based services, acquired by Nokia), and Actionality (mobile advertising, acquired by Yahoo!).

In founder teams Stefan looks for big ideas, ambition, and an ability to articulate why they can dominate a particular space.

Stefan grew up in Germany and has lived in France, the Netherlands, and the US. He received a Dipl. Ing. degree from RWTH-Aachen and an MBA from Insead. Before becoming a VC he worked in product management, market development and sales.
