Shervin Pishevar is a serial entrepreneur, leading venture capitalist and angel investor.
Prior to founding SherpaVentures, Mr. Pishevar served as Managing Director at Menlo Ventures, where he worked closely with teams at Uber, Tumblr, Poshmark, Cinemagram, Getaround, Machine Zone, Fab, Warby Parker, Shaker and Mr. Number. While at Menlo, he helped launch the Menlo Talent Fund, Menlo’s $20M seed fund.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Pishevar founded and operated technology-enabled companies including Webs.com (sold to Vistaprint for $117.5 million), Social Gaming Network (SGN, merged with Mindjolt), and HyperOffice. Companies Mr. Pishevar founded have reached an aggregate of 100 million users and successfully raised an aggregate of $50 million.
As an angel/seed investor, Mr. Pishevar has invested in over 60 companies in Social Commerce, Social Search, Social Media, Ad Tech and Mobile.
Mr. Pishevar was chosen by the US Government as an Outstanding American by Choice – one of only 100 naturalized Americans to be chosen since the beginning of the award. Mr. Pishevar serves on the advisory board of Comscore (NASDAQ: SCOR), is one of 10 members of the UN Foundation’s Global Entrepreneurs Council, serves as an Entrepreneurial Ambassador on several State Department delegations to the Middle East and Russia and was a key note speaker at the President Obama’s Summit on Entrepreneurship in Algeria.
Mr. Pishevar is a graduate of the University of California (BA, Interdisciplinary Studies Field Major), a published researcher in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) and Neuroscience Letters and the author of several US patents including a foundational patent on the Web Operating System and a patent on a new method to lyse malaria-infected erythrocytes.
