Shawn Hardin is an Entrepreneur In Residence at Bessemer Venture Partners and Shasta Ventures and is based in their Menlo Park offices.
Prior to joining Bessemer and Shasta, Shawn was the CEO of Flock, the award-winning Social Web Browser. Under his leadership, Flock grew to more than 10M users and became the #1 most popular desktop application on Facebook. Zynga acquired Flock’s team and technology in Q1, 2011.Â
Shawn has over twenty four years of professional experience spanning traditional and interactive media and has spent the last seventeen years leading technology-driven entrepreneurial ventures, including as Head of Youth, Health, Lifestyles & Games for the Yahoo! Media Group, Senior Vice President for AOL Broadband, EVP & Group General Manager for NBCi and co-founder of the NBC Television Network’s Interactive Division.
Earlier in his career, Shawn worked in Los Angeles as a filmmaker and cinematographer on more than seventy film and video productions. As a past board member for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Shawn co-founded the Interactive Media Peer Group and oversaw creation of the first Emmy Award recognizing creative excellence in interactive media programming. Â He is currently a director member of the Directors Guild of America and has served on Advisory Boards for National Public Radio, AFI and the PGA. Shawn is also an investor in several Internet and CPG companies.
Shawn is a graduate of the University of Southern California and lives in the Bay area with his wife and daughter.
