Shawn Hardin is the Co-founder & CEO of Mind Pirate. The company builds technology for the development and distribution of wearable computing applications that take full advantage of the unique capabilities of next-generation mobile wearable devices.
Before Mind Pirate, Shawn was an Entrepreneur In Residence at Bessemer Venture Partners, where he focused on consumer Internet, mobile, games and social media investment opportunities. Previously, Shawn was the CEO of Flock, the award-winning Social Web Browser that grew to become the #1 most popular desktop application on Facebook in 2010 and was acquired by Zynga. Prior to Flock, Shawn led a portfolio of businesses at Yahoo! and served as the General Manager for Yahoo’s Casual, Mobile & Video Games Group with 30M active users and 2.2 billion minutes of monthly engagement. Earlier, Shawn’s senior leadership roles at AOL Broadband and NBC Internet included convergence, integrated media and broadband games.
Shawn is a director member of the Directors Guild of America and a board member at the Canadian Film Centre's ideaBOOST media lab. He has also served in the past on advisory boards for National Public Radio, the American Film Institute's Enhanced TV Program, and he was a founding member of the Producers Guild of America New Media Council. Shawn worked in Los Angeles as a filmmaker on more than seventy film and video productions and he was the founding Governor elect for the Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences Interactive Media Peer Group where he oversaw creation of the industry's first Emmy Award recognizing creative excellence in interactive media programming. Shawn is a graduate of the School of Cinema/TV at the University of Southern California.
