As an Executive in Residence at General Catalyst Partners, Scott Griffith focuses on identifying and supporting innovative businesses that are driving growth and creating value by offering a category leading experience with a specific interest in marketplace-driven business models and the sharing economy. Scott is based in the firm’s Cambridge office.

Prior to joining General Catalyst, Scott served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network. During his ten-year tenure, Scott transformed Zipcar from a small business into a profitable public company, growing it from $2 million to nearly $300 million in revenues through organic growth and acquisitions before taking it public in 2011. In 2011, Scott engineered Zipcar’s Initial Public Offering (IPO), and in 2013 led the strategic sale of Zipcar to Avis Budget Group for approximately $500 million.

Prior to Zipcar, Scott held senior level positions at the Boeing Company (NYSE: BA), Information America and the Parthenon Group.

Scott serves on the boards of CoachUp (a General Catalyst portfolio company) and the Alliance for Business Leadership.

Scott also serves as Leadership Council Chairman for the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center.

Scott earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
