Dr. Jo, SanKu is an evangelist of life2.0 and the sharing economy bringing web2.0 innovation to real life. He is a seasoned business man with on-hand Internet experience for 25 years. He lead web2.0 and mobile Internet businesses at KT, KTH, and LG U+(formerly LG Telecom) including Social(freean, wagle), Local(placebook, localstory), Advertising, and eCommerce(dingdong).
He co-founded Verifia(formerly NetGeo), an Internet geolocation company in Silicon Valley, with Michael Yang, CEO of become.com, in 2000 in Silicon Valley. As CTO at Verifia, he brought investment of more than $4MM and precious customers including Visa, Experian and H&C. He is known as one of Internet Geolocation Creators. Verifia was acquired by Quova in 2008.
Before co-founding Verifia, he joined Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory(LBNL) located in Berkeley, California, as a computer scientist in 1998. His major projects at LBNL were meta computing, future Internet architecture and applications.
He founded KIDS BBS(http://www.kidsb.net), the first Internet community in Korea, in 1991 and served as a sysop and advisor for 10 years.
He received B.S. and M.S. in computer engineering from KwangWoon University in 1986 and 1988, respectively, and his doctorate degree in computer engineering from Texas A&M University in 1998.
