Ruth Cheesley is the director of Virya Technologies Ltd. - a Buddhist Right Livelihood business specialising in open source technologies. She is a specialist in the Joomla! Content Management System and is involved with local and national Joomla! events.
Ruth has a wide range of interests having initially qualified as a Sport Scientist and then later gaining an MSc in Physiotherapy, both from the University of Essex. Originally from Dorset, Ruth is now settled in Ipswich, Suffolk.
She is a keen contributor to charities and voluntary organisations and is an assessor for Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions, as well as supporting a local open group with their Gold scheme.
Ruth has a health condition called Hypermobility (otherwise known as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Type 3) which does limit her activities at times and can cause fatigue, which has meant that she has had to set up her business to accommodate this. Virya Technologies offers completely flexible working arrangements for their staff, enabling them to work from anywhere in the world at any time of the day or night to suit their situation.
