Rolf Mathies is Co-Founder and Partner of Earlybird as well as Director of Earlybird Luxembourg Management SA. Rolf has more than 20 years of investment and deal making experience. He has a strong entrepreneurial and management background, particularly in helping companies manage their rapid growth and ramp up of their businesses. He was chairman of the board at amaxa AG (Cologne) from the foundation to the exit to Lonza Group Ltd. (SWX: LONN). He was board member of Alantos Pharmaceuticals AG (Heidelberg/Boston) until it was sold to Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ: AMGN) he was Chairman of the Board of element 5 AG, which was sold to Digital River Inc. (NASDAQ:DRIV). Furthermore Rolf was an initial investor in Wilex AG now listed at the Prime Standard in Frankfurt (WL6). Rolf currently is chairman of the board at Hemoteq AG (Aachen) and chairman of the board of azeti Networks GmbH (Berlin). 1990 Rolf co-founded ConAction Holding and was Managing Director until 1997. Prior to that Rolf worked for the leading strategy consultancy, Bain & Company, where he focused on M & A strategy. Rolf also initiated and implemented the acquisition of LIBRI GmbH & Co KG for Bain Capital. Rolf holds a Diplom Kaufmann degree (MBA equivalent) specializing in information science from the University of Hamburg.
