Roland can best be described as a reformed corporate drone, converted startup junky and web obsessive.
Started off life as a network strategist and architecture design engineer for several fixed and mobile telecommunications companies before doing the honorable thing and moving to the dark side i.e. marketing. He blames this lapse in mental fortitude on his class mates on the Bath MBA.
After many years in corporate life co founded Revomark an online company specialising in all aspects of intellectual property. Revomark disintermediated the industry using low cost web applications allowing it to achieve a ranking of 6th highest UK registrations in its 2nd year.
A relapse saw him do a stint at France Telecom before getting itchy feet again and joining Augere as Group Marketing Manager. Augere is a privately held company founded by former Orange Group CEO Sanjiv Ahuja and has raised over $175M in funding. Augere trades under the Qubee brand in developing markets, deploying wireless Internet services.
These days it’s all about SmartIP, an early stage startup (currently in private beta) used by intellectual property professionals to manage their IP assets. The web app uses cloud based storage and the Sencha HTML5 Javascript framework.
