Roger Wood is an internationally recognized leader in the mobile and interactive media industries, with a unique combination of experience in traditional, online, and mobile marketing.
Roger’s career began at Motorola as head of marketing, product management, & strategy for the iDEN Division, which created Nextel and the iDEN brand of mobile phones. Reporting to wireless industry legend Bob Barnett at only 25 years old, he led iDEN to become the first mobile social network, and 6th best-selling mobile phone in ever. Motorola sold Nextel to Craig McCaw, who sold it to Sprint.
Next, he was appointed GM of international business for Voicestream, Aerial, Powertel and Omnipoint, the consortium of GSM companies that became T-Mobile USA. As the 13th employee at Omnipoint, he led the launch of the first international SMS Text Messaging service in America.
Marketing success in wireless led to his appointment as Corporate VP of Global Marketing for Reebok International, which included Greg Norman, Ralph Lauren Polo Sport/RLX, and Rockport brands. He oversaw brand strategy and advertising, including hundreds of licensing and celebrity endorsement agreements.
Recently, Roger pioneered mobile advertising as part of the founding team at Amobee Media Systems. Under his leadership, Amobee secured agreements with Vodafone, Sprint, Rogers Canada, and Telefonica to serve ads on mobile phones in 70 countries.
Currently, he serves on the boards of several early stage companies lending his experience in building global businesses to the entrepreneurial founders. He has also stepped in as an interim executive to help stabilize those same companies.
