Locaid now locates over 5 billion connected devices worldwide. Rip is a noted mobile industry visionary, entrepreneur, public company executive, data privacy advocate and international best-selling author. At Nokia, he served as Chief Marketing Officer and head of Ecommerce and Business Development for Intellisync Corporation (NASDAQ: SYNC) the wholly-owned enterprise software division of Nokia (NOK). In less than two years, Mr. Gerber transformed the company and brand from a sputtering consumer product into the worldwide leader in wireless email and mobile software for the enterprise and wireless carrier markets. He was the lead executive in representing the company to shareholders, investment funds, banking and industry analysts, the media and strategic partners. Nokia acquired Intellisync for $510M; Mr. Gerber helped lead a 10X increase in stock value in less than two years.

Prior to joining Intellisync, Mr. Gerber served as Managing Director and Group Vice President of Carlson Marketing Group, the $2 Billion subsidiary of Carlson Companies. Mr. Gerber led regional integration of CMG’s acquisitions, notably the Peppers & Rogers Group, and he initiated and led the firm's technology practice for clients including HP, Intel, Oracle, Xerox and Home Depot. Prior to that he was Senior Vice President for Digitas Inc. (NASDAQ: DTAS) where he helped establish the firm's B2B division and served on the CMO council, leading strategic marketing programs for Microsoft and Charles Schwab. In both roles Mr. Gerber advised CMOs and senior client executives on strategy, market positioning, customer acquisition and retention, CRM, communications, branding and infrastructure investment.

Previously, Mr. Gerber was hired as a key executive for Commtouch Inc. to take the fledging email infrastructure company public, which he did in July 1999 (NASDAQ: CTCH). There he served as Chief Strategy Officer and head of marketing, corporate development as well as divisional general manager, creating an enterprise value of $1.2 billion in less than two years.

Prior to that Mr. Gerber served as CEO of @once Inc, an email marketing company he founded, which was acquired by InfoUSA. He has also served as a senior strategy practitioner for Deloitte Consulting and helped build the firm’s Financial Services practice, serving clients such as Bank of America, Charles Schwab, and First Republic Bank. Previously, Mr. Gerber worked as a senior marketing director at American Express, Inc. and as a process engineer for Firestone Tire & Rubber. Early in his career he worked for the Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, Virginia. Mr. Gerber has a chemical engineering degree from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Aratana (PETX), a pharmaceutical company which filed for an IPO and a secondary offering during Rip’s board tenure. Rip also serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the CTIA, the telco industry’s largest industry association. He holds a CIIP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) designation from the IAPP. Mr. Gerber is an international best-selling author and has sold two books to RandomHouse: PHARMA (2007) and KILLER VIRUS (2010).
