Rio D. Caraeff serves as President & Chief Executive Officer of VEVO, the new online premium music and entertainment service that blends the very best in top-notch music content with YouTube’s leading-edge video technology and user community.
Prior to joining VEVO, Rio was Executive Vice President of Universal Music Group’s eLabs, responsible for handling the company’s electronic commerce initiatives, Internet exploitation, and new technology business opportunities worldwide. Previously, Rio served as General Manager of Universal Music Mobile, which, under his leadership, sold over 300 million mobile music units and saw its business expand more than 200%. Rio’s extensive background before UMG included working in new technologies in virtually all areas of entertainment including film, television, music and games. His 15+ years in the industry also include senior positions at Sony Pictures Entertainment, FABRIC, a Media/Telecom consultancy he co-founded, Sony 550 Digital Media Ventures, Sony Music Entertainment, Capitol Records Group and Propaganda Films.
Rio was featured in The Hollywood Reporter’s “Next Generation,” as one of the top 35 executives under 35 in Hollywood and in Fortune magazine’s 40 under 40. He was also named one of the top digital executives to watch in 2010 by both the Los Angeles Times and Digital Media Wire.
