Richard Powell / Presswire
Richard Powell is a self-confessed life-long news junkie, journalism graduate, full-time PR Director and freelance journalist based in London, England.
He was formerly a business and political correspondent for the IT contractors’ news site www.Shout99.com and a Video and Broadcast Journalist for the BBC, working across their World and UK desks, outputting to network TV on the BBC News and BBC World channels as well as to BBC News Online.
As an entrepreneur, he founded the well-known Press Release Distribution, Media Contacts Database and Media Monitoring company, www.Presswire.com, in 2001, which provides Public Relations services to SMEs, Blue Chips, and Governments.
He also founded the news syndication website www.greatreporter.com in 2003, as a springboard for young, unknown journalists to sell their work to the mainstream media, helping them to build a professional portfolio of published work and get paid at the same time.
Despite working full-time in Financial, Tech and Legal PR now, he keeps a toe in journalism by tagging along with aid agencies and NGOs where he can, visiting areas they’re working in, and publicising their work on a voluntary basis, though this has more recently transformed into the comparably safer world of travel writing. Whatever keeps him working in hotspots/areas of interest around the world!
Richard’s main areas of expertise are in all things commercial online, business, the evolution of Public Relations and the future of news.
