The son of an Air Force fighter pilot, Scott grew up around the world, living in England, France, Germany, Japan, Korea and several states across the U.S. After graduating from high school in Korea, he returned to the U.S. to attend university. He studied at George Mason University and spent his junior year abroad at New College, Oxford University, where he studied theology and played golf for the Oxford University Golf Club, playing some of the best courses in the South of England.
He began his career at Oxford Venture Finance, a subsidiary of the Japanese bank Sumitomo, and later spent two years investing in venture capital funds through an emerging managers program, where he helped invest over $630 million in 11 promising, first time venture capital funds, including founding investments in Emergence Capital Partners and Accretive among others. While attending business school, he was also instrumental in the founding of Pine Creek Partners, a private equity firm where he worked with a great mentor to help raise the firm’s initial capital.
Upon completion of his MBA, he moved to California to invest capital in Walz Group, an outsourcing company with enabling technology for default management that was poised to benefit from a downturn in real-estate. As VP of Sales and a key member of the senior executive team, Scott helped grow annual sales at Walz from $300,000 to over $11 million and profitability in under three years. He recruited a new CEO and several members of the executive management team.
He lives with his wife and two children in Laguna Beach, California and enjoys art, golf, tennis, reading, and spending time with his family. He serves on the board of advisors for Tapestry Homes, a non-profit focused on finding a solution to the global housing dilemma.
He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS from George Mason University.
