Puneet Mehta is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of MyCityWay, an award-winning, multi-national start-up that is pioneering a new generation of self-learning, highly personalized mobile interfaces and apps to guide residents and visitors through their daily experiences in the city. MyCityWay’s enterprise mobility platform delivers unique mobility solutions and targeted engagement for major brands in media, auto, travel & hospitality, and events.
Mehta spent much of his career on Wall Street, building sophisticated technological platforms to power large-scale trading systems and help high-frequency trading desks quickly identify actionable signals in a sea of noise. Under Mehta’s leadership, MyCityWay has applied the artificial intelligence technology once reserved for high-powered algorithmic trading to build out some key aspects of modern mobile computing: personalized local discovery and laser targeted mobile advertising. Since winning three awards at it’s launch at the inaugural NYC Big Apps in 2010, MyCityWay has expanded to over 85 markets worldwide and is the official mobility solutions partner for BMW i (a sub-brand of BMW).
Before founding MyCityWay, Mehta held many technology executive positions, where he built situationally-aware, self-learning technology that ran businesses or helped people make real-time decisions to run their businesses – in everything from trading platforms to supply chains. Most recently, as SVP for technology strategy and architecture for Citi Capital Markets, Mehta pioneered significant firsts in cloud-based CRM and wealth management systems. Earlier, he led the introduction of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and complex event correlation for equity trading as VP of technology for capital markets at Merrill Lynch. For the first time on Wall Street, Mehta introduced SOA within the asset and wealth management division of JP Morgan while serving as the VP of technology in 2004. At Johnson Controls Inc., he led the architecture of a real-time integration hub that connected over 72 legacy systems with SAP. Before that, he pioneered efforts around rules-based intelligent systems to support new products at IBM TJ Watson Center.
Business Insider magazine named Puneet to “The Silicon Alley 100: New York’s Coolest Tech People In 2010” and “35 Up-And-Coming Entrepreneurs You Need To Meet”. MyCityWay has won several awards including NYC Big Apps 2010, Intel TechSparks Apps4India 2011, Hill Holliday’s Project Beacon 2012, OnMedia’s Top 100 2012 and Appy Award 2012.
Puneet actively comments on the topics of urban mobility, mobile interfaces, mobile monetization / advertising, personalization technology and intelligent cloud-connected big data systems.
