Pinar Simsek is the co-founder of www.anneysen.com, an online social network for moms and mom-to-be’s in Turkey.
Being aware of social media boom in the world and lacking of a social media platform for moms in Turkey, she has started up anneysen.com, a web 2.0 site, that brings a new approach to the market where current mom-related sites were mostly web 1.0 in which only one way communication existed.
anneysen.com is built on their experience of motherhood together with marketing and management skills and their precise understanding of the needs and wants of the market.
Background: Pinar Simsek has graduated from the faculty of business administration of Bosporus University Istanbul, TURKEY and upon graduation she has gone to Japan to complete her MBA in International University of Japan on full scholarship. Upon graduation, she returned to Turkey and worked in Aci Primary School to pursue her dream of working in the education sector. She has worked as assistant researcher, teacher, and head of Science and Technology Department respectively. Her responsibilities and primary achievements were: • In charge of building Science and Mathematics curriculum and laboratories • In charge of writing and developing teaching materials, books, lab documents • Establishing primary years programme of Science and Mathematics
Pinar Simsek has resigned her work when her second child was born and started her career as a free lance writer for kids’ books. She attended a creative writing programme. She published her first book with an educational game, “Global Warming for Kidsâ€. She wrote this book for a non-profit organisation and the books are still being distributed to primary school students all around Turkey.
