I was a newspaper journalist in my hometown of Mildura until Feb this year. It completely did my head in, for a number of reasons. I was originally from Mildura and, like many other country people, I really love spending time with my family. It’s one of the main reasons young educated country kids return home after living in a capital city such as Melbourne (which is where I had lived for 5 years). Unfortunately, I could not adjust to the slowing-down of pace that I experienced in the ‘Food Bowl’.
