Niren has 20 years of start-up & leadership experience at high growth internet, mobile, media, & entertainment companies, including AdMob, Yahoo!, CBS Sportsline, MTV Networks, Plus Channel, and BPL Mobile.
5 years of angel investment, board, and advisory experience since 2004 with several early stage mobile companies in the areas of social networks, UGC, VOIP, messaging, image recognition, smartphone applications, m-commerce enablement, games, entertainment, publishing.
Most recent role: As Vice President & Managing Director of Asia-Pacific & Latin America for AdMob, Niren is responsible for the company’s strategy, operations and expansion across Asia-Pacific and Latin America. He joined in 2006 as VP of worldwide Business Development, and built & led the team responsible for AdMob’s strategic partnerships & traffic acquisition in North America & worldwide, as well as the company’s business expansion into Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Africa. He has 20 years of international experience at top Internet, mobile and media companies including Yahoo!, CBS Sportsline, MTV Networks, Plus Channel, & BPL Mobile (a France Telecom joint venture). Prior to AdMob, Niren led the investment and operating strategy for the Yahoo!’s Mobile division in Asia and the integration of Yahoo! Japan and Vodafone KK (Softbank Mobile). Niren has deep entrepreneurial roots. When he was 21 he founded a highly successful processed foods company in Japan, where he was born and raised, and today he is an angel investor in several promising mobile startups on different continents. Niren has a BS in Finance and a MBA from Boston University.
