Murat Bicer is a Managing Director at RTP Ventures focusing on investments in software, enterprise infrastructure and Internet. Based in Boston, Murat invests in early stage and growth companies around the US in addition to leading RTP's activities in Turkey.
Prior to joining RTP, Murat was with Battery Ventures where he invested actively in enterprise IT, software and mobile. At Battery, he was an investor in Opscode, Zerto, XtremIO, GreenBytes, Viridity and MoreMagic.
Before Battery, Murat worked in business development, product management and engineering roles at Mercury Computer Systems where he was responsible for expanding Mercury's wireless communications business. Murat also worked in the financial services group, where he helped trading firms improve the performance of algorithmic trading and derivatives pricing applications. Previously, he worked as a software engineer at Intra Information Technologies, a startup company that developed GSM-based mobile transaction devices for financial institutions.
Murat is on the board of the New England Venture Network (NEVN) whose mission is to provide education, research and networking for non-partner VCs in New England. NEVN is an active sponsor of local charities, and Murat is responsible for managing these relationships. He previously served on the board of the Wireless Innovation Forum, an international telecom trade association. Murat holds an M.B.A, summa cum laude, from the Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and an M.S.E.E from Northeastern University.
