Mo Virani applies more than 20 years of experience in active financial management of high-growth technology companies to MDV’s financial and administrative functions. He works closely with the investment team in supporting all of MDV’s companies both prior to and post-investment.
From 1995 to 1999, Mo was with Softbank Corp./Ziff Davis, where he most recently was CFO of ZD Events Inc., the division of Ziff Davis responsible for 40% of the company’s profits. Earlier, he was COO and CFO of Softbank Forums Inc., responsible for the finance, IS, strategic planning, legal and human resources functions of this diversified education and events company. From 1984 to 1995, Mo worked at Sun Microsystems where he held director level finance positions, supporting Sun’s rapidly growing domestic and international sales and marketing operations. Before Sun, he spent four years with Hewlett-Packard, working in the U.S. and Canadian headquarter operations.
Mo earned a bachelor’s degree (with honors) in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Manchester (U.K.) and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
