As Design Director of General Assembly, Mimi O Chun leads all design-related content at General Assembly. Prior to joining GA, Mimi held senior and director-level design positions at a number of design consultancies including the New York office of IDEO, Oh Boy, A Design Company in San Francisco, and IA Collaborative in Chicago. She helps companies articulate ideas and opportunities through all phases of a program, from the initial expression of a strategic vision through concept development to consumer touchpoints that live in the world. She has led design efforts for clients across a range of industries including publishing, entertainment, education, fashion, financial services, technology, and hospitality.
Mimi received her BFA in Graphic Design from Carnegie Mellon University, and her MFA from Yale University where her thesis work focused on developing new ways of mapping both quantitative and qualitative data such as behaviors, perceptions, and processes. Her personal work attempts to reveal patterns in banal information too often overlooked, such as the color palette of our food intake or the astrological signs of all 44 US presidents.
