Michael Wood is an entrepreneurial, creative, analytical and hands-on Vice President / Director of Product Management and Marketing with extensive experience bootstrapping, building and launching new products in lean, risky and disruptive environments.
He developed the strategy for Cisco next generation routers supporting virtualization, cloud, security, metro Ethernet, SaaS, network optimization and application routing.
Michael Wood was also previously director of product management and marketing in the Services Routing Technology Group at Cisco Systems. Prior to his role as director, Michael helped pioneer VoIP and held engineering positions developing system, board and chip designs for networking products at Cisco, StrataCom and ArgoSystems.
Michael also led the team that created the first Cisco Smart Grid Router, CGR2010, and was awarded the Cisco Pioneer Award for his work on Survivable Remote Site Telephony.
He holds a MSEE and BSIT from San Jose State University and is an inventor on two US Patents (Configurable Basic Rate Interface, Patent 6,965,609 and Static, Dynamic, and Intelligent VRF Routing, Patent 7,792,097).
