Ching-Yu Hu
As Vice President of Satellite Systems, Mike Trela leads the development of Skybox Imaging’s earth observation satellites. Mike is excited about bringing together a team of talented engineers to pursue innovative technical ideas that will produce unique, cost-effective imagery solutions and accelerate Skybox Imaging’s vision of becoming a geospatial intelligence leader.
Prior to joining Skybox Imaging, Mike was a member of the Space Systems Applications Group at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. His technical expertise is in spacecraft fault management and autonomy systems, spacecraft propulsion, and research in the area of new space technologies. Most notably, Mike worked as a satellite systems engineer on NASA’s groundbreaking MESSENGER and STEREO missions.
Mike graduated from Stanford University with a M.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics and from the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. He enjoys sailing, snowboarding, backpacking and BBQing with friends and family.
