At 21, Melissa Lim started her career in marketing at Far East Organization, Singapore's largest private property developer. At Far East Organization, she was responsible for identifying and approaching high-net worth individuals to discuss home and investment opportunities in Asia’s real estate market.
She then joined JDB Holdings, one of Asia's fastest growing online media networks covering 9 countries with over 28 million monthly unique visitors. At JDB Holdings, she recruited a team to launch OpenRice in Singapore. OpenRice is now Asia's No. 1 Online Dining Guide with offices in The Philippines, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong and India. She devised and executed the operational and marketing strategy to manage and grow a database of over 15,000 accurate restaurant listings, 10,000 high-quality user-generated food reviews, 10,000 Facebook fans and 5000 subscribers in less than a 6 months. She expanded the sales offering to include events management, content development, recipes listing and video production, and also brought in the company's first sales. She provided the strategic vision and was responsible for creating and maintaining key partnerships. She also interviewed top Celebrity Chefs in the region such as Australian Chef Luke Nguyen, Irish Chef Rachel Allen and Chinese-Egyptian Chef Bobby Chinn, who has two series of his tv shows on Discovery Network.
In 2011, she accepted the offer to join CozyCot.com, Singapore's No. 1 Women's Website as certified by Hitwise to lead a cross-functional team of 11. At CozyCot.com, she spearheaded The Women Network: Student Marketing Competition and was on the judging panel for 20 quality student teams. She was also part of the team behind the prestigious annual CozyCot Holy Grail Beauty and Fashion Awards, an event that garnered over 2000 attendees and had over 50 corporate sponsors, including big brand names like L'Oreal, Neutrogena and Sony. She interviewed Chippendales, Vicki Zhao (who won Best Actress award at the Shanghai International Film Festival) and Maggie and Annie of Benefit Cosmetics (a global beauty brand now selling at more than 2,000 counters in more than 30 countries).
Melissa is currently based in Los Angeles (with frequent travels to Silicon Valley) to work on her mission-driven innovative e-commerce start-up, Beautimy, which plans to bridge the gap between the tech and technologically-backwards centuries-old multi-billion dollar beauty & personal care industry through mass customization options, beautiful design, excellent customer service, and products handcrafted with the highest-quality and sustainably-sourced natural ingredients from the USA.
