Matias Collan joined Earlybird as a Venture Partner in 2009 and was promoted to Partner and Chief Operating Officer in 2010. Matias oversees Earlybird’s corporate, fund related, legal and other operational matters. Further, Matias is involved in selected investment and disinvestment processes, such as the merger of Purple Labs SA into publicly listed Esmertec AG (later Myriad Software Group) and the subsequent disinvestment of Myriad through a block trade. In addition, he accompanied the exit of UPEK by merger into publicly listed Authentec Inc. [Nasdaq: AUTH].
Prior to Earlybird, Matias worked in investment banking (Lazard; Dresdner Kleinwort) for six years, advising on various types of corporate finance transactions, in particular M&A deals (sell-side and buy-side, both listed and non-listed companies). He started his career at one of Germany’s leading law firms in Frankfurt.
Matias was trained in law in Germany and Switzerland with a focus on corporate law, banking law and financing transactions.
