Masayoshi Son is a leading Japanese businessman who, after having spent his childhood in Tosu in Southern Japan, went to San Francisco at the age of 16.
He finished high school in the US and went on to graduate from the University of California in Berkeley, where he majored with a degree in Economics.
In 1981, Son went back to Japan to found Softbank. The company is today one of Asia’s biggest media, web and telecommunication companies and Son is the chief executive officer. He is also chairman of Yahoo Japan.
With an estimated net worth of $7 billion, Son is said to be Japan’s richest man.
