Mark�s background is as a technical leader in the Internet from the mid 80s, from the Internet engineering task force standards making body, to original member and Senior Vice President of Engineering at PSINet.
Prior to joining PSINet in 1990, Mark was a member of the technical staff at NYSERNet where he co-authored the Internet Standard Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). From 1986 through 1987, Mark was a member of the networking group at the Cornell Theory Center which developed and operated the first phase of the NSFNET backbone. At the Cornell Theory Center, Mark designed and implemented �gated�, the first multi-routing protocol process for the NSFNET backbone. �gated� technology is still embedded in many present-day routers. Mark has participated in various IETF working groups and co-developed Internet technology innovations with various vendors since 1986.
Mark also is on the Technical Advisor Boards of Zhone Technologies and Vpacket Communications.
